Glass Banisters
Glass banisters and Glass balustrade staircases made to measure in Kent
A glass banister is a great way to introduce a feeling of light and space into your home or business premises. If you are planning home improvements, we can work with your builders or joiners to produce unique glass balustrade stairs to your exact specifications.
Glass Balustrade stairs have become increasingly popular over the last few years. Improvements in materials and production techniques mean that glass is now a very affordable material which still offers the strength and safety you would expect from traditional building materials.
Bespoke Glass Splashbacks have over 20 years experience working with toughened glass in a range of domestic and commercial applications. Take a look at some of our recent work below.
Timber, steel or frameless - which glass stair banister is right for you?
Glass stair banisters come in a wide range of designs and finishes. Our expert team will guide you through your options and work closely with your designers or tradespeople to get the exact finish you require.
Frameless glass balustrade staircase
Sleek and minimal, a frameless glass balustrade is guaranteed to give your staircase an ultra modern appearance. As you can see in this image below, frameless glass handrails are discreetly bolted onto the side of your staircase. This results in an ‘invisible’ style finish. Frameless handrails are particularly eye-catching when used on a ‘floating staircase’, or cantilevered staircase. Although these appear almost invisible, frameless glass handrails are constructed from toughened glass so they are every bit as strong, safe and secure as traditional wooden spindles.
Stainless steel and glass balustrade
Stainless steel is another popular choice and this material can be used for the handrail, baserail and spindles on a staircase or balcony. Stainless steel is a modern material which blends into almost any style of property. Steel is easy to clean and long-lasting. It has a neutral look which means that it can be used alongside timber or tiles, and it won’t clash with any paint finishes. In fact it will look good in any situation.
Stainless steel and glass balustrades are always a popular choice. This combination of materials looks fantastic on internal and external staircases and balconies.
Oak and glass balustrade
A glass balustrade with a wooden handrail is a perfect solution if you want to achieve a high class, traditional style finish to your staircase. Oak is probably the most popular timber to be used in staircases, although other woods are available, such as beech and ash.
Timber stairs with a glass balustrade give you all the benefits of a traditional wooden staircase. However, since wooden spindles are no longer required, more light is allowed to pass through and even reflect off the glass panels resulting in a lot more light.
From a design point of view, timber and glass can also be easier on the eye. The toughened glass panels slot seamlessly into the timber frame of the handrail, often with no visible joins. Also there is no need to have wooden spindles every 6 inches or so, which results in a much cleaner, minimalist finish.
